Five Cookies
Five little cookies in the bakery shop.
Shinning bright with the sugar on top.
Along comes (child's name) with a nickel to pay.
He/she buys a cookie and takes it away.
(continue with four, three, two and one).

Three Little Nickels

Three little nickels in a pocketbook new,
   (hold up three fingers )
One bought a peppermint, and then there were two,
   (bend down one finger)
Two Little nickels before the day was done,
One bought an ice cream come, and then there was one
   (bend down another finger )
One little nickel I heard it plainly say,
"I'm going into the piggy bank for a rainy day!"

Five Fat Peas
Five fat peas in a pea pod pressed
(children hold hand in a fist)
One grew, two grew, so did all the rest.
(put thumb and fingers up one by one)
They grew and grew
(raise hand in the air very slowly)
And did not stop,
Until one day
The pod went POP!
(children clap hands together)

Ten Fingers
I have ten fingers    (hold up both hands, fingers spread )
And they all belong to me,  (point to self)
I can make them do things-
Would you like to see?

I can shut them up tight   (make fists)
I can open them wide    (open hands )
I can put them together   (place palms together )
I can make them all hide  (put hands behind back )

I can make them jump high   (hands over head)
I can make them jump low   (touch floor )
I can fold them up quietly   (fold hands in lap )
And hold them just so.

Open and Shut Them
Open them (fists open) shut them (fists closed)
Give them a little clap, clap, clap (clap three times)
Open and shut them, open and shut them
Put them in your lap, lap, lap (tap your lap three times)
Creep them, crawl them (use fingertips), creep them, crawl them
Right up to your chin, chin, chin (tap chin three times)
Open wide your little mouth (open your mouth)
But do not let them in (hide hands behind back)

If
If your fingers wiggle (wiggle fingers)
Cross them one by one (clasp hands together)
Until they hug each other (fold fingers down)
It really is quite fun!

Little Turtle
There was a little turtle (make small circle with thumb & index finger)
He lived in a box (cup hands to form a box)
He swam in a puddle (swimming motions)
He climbed on the rocks (climbing motion with hands)
He snapped at a mosquito (snap with thumb and forefinger)
He snapped at a flea (repeat)
He snapped at a minnow (repeat)
He snapped at me (turn hand towards self and snap)
He caught the mosquito (catching motion with hands)
He caught the flea (repeat)
He caught the minnow (repeat)
But he didn't catch me! (Point to self and shake head ‘no')

Quiet Pussy Cat
We are little pussy cats
Walking round and round.
We have cushions on our feet
And never make a sound.
(walking on cushions of fingers)
or (crawling quietly like a cat)

Eencey Weencey Spider
Eencey Weencey spider
Climed up the water spout;
Down came the rain,
And washed poor Eencey out;
Out came the sun And dried up all the rain;
And the Eencey Weencey spider
Climbed up the spout again.

Gramma's Spectaicles
These are Grandma's spectacles,
This is Grandma's hat.
This is the way she folds her hands,
And lays them in her lap.

Little Fish
One, two, three, four, five –
Once I caught a fish alive.
Six, seven, eight, nine, ten –
Then I let it go again.
Why did I let it go?
Because it bit my finger so.
Which finger did it bite?
The little finger on the right.

Where is Thumbkin?
Where is thumbkin?

Oh Mr. Sun
Oh, Mr. Sun, sun, Mr. Golden Sun
Won't you pleade shine down on me?
Oh, Mr. Sun, sun, Mr. Golden Sun
Hiding behind a tree.
These little children are asking you
To please come out so we can play with you
Oh, Mr. Sun, sun, Mr. Golden Sun
Won't you please shine down on me?

Animal Walk
(Have children act out each animal)
The lion walks on padded paws
The squirrel leaps from limb to limb
While flies can crawl straight up a wall,
And seals can dive and swim
The worm, it wiggles all around,
The moneky swings by it's tail,
and birds may hop upon the ground
Or spread their wings and sail.
But boys and girls have much more fun
They leap
and dance
And walk
And run
