Rain of Leaves
by: Aileen Fisher
It’s raining big. It’s raining small.
It’s raining autumn leaves, in Fall.
It’s raining gold. And red and brown
As autumn leaves, come raining down.

Leafy Table Mats
Materials: collected leaves, construction paper, contact paper, glue, scissors
Directions:  After collecting leaves, press them between newspaper inside a heavy book and
leave for a week if possible. Once leaves are flat, glue several different leaves on a piece of
construction paper.  Apply contact paper first on to the leaf side and then the backside of the
construction paper. Press out all the air bubbles with hands and smooth the plastic. Finally, trim
the edges and your mats are ready to use.

Leaf Bookmark
Materials:  construction paper, contact paper, leaves and scissors
Directions:  Cut construction paper into 3x6 inch rectangles and arrange collected leaves onto
same sized contact paper. Put the construction paper over the contact paper and trim around
the edges.

Autumn Leaf Rubbings
Use autumn crayon colors(red, yellow, orange, brown). To make the rubbings, have the child
place a variety of leaves on a table and lay a piece of white paper over top. Show the child how
to gently rub a peeled crayon on its side over the leaves to make the raised surfaces of the
leaves show up.
