Prop Boxes
Include the following collections of objects and materials for children to create, discover, and use for imaginary play. Store collections in boxes or baskets to be accessible at any time (indoors or outdoors) for children to enhance their dramatic play.

Hair Salon (NEW 2007) plastic combs, mirrors, hairpins, rollers, spray bottles, barrettes, appointment book, plastic cape, brushes , hair dryer (with cord cut off), magazines, play money , curling iron (with cord cut off), empty shampoo bottles, ribbons , posters of hair styles, telephone, hair clips, wigs/wig heads, towels, headbands

** Items used on hair must be sanitized after use by children **

Hospital: lab coats (or white shirts), doctor uniform, nurse uniform, surgical gloves, surgical masks, hospital pajamas, scale, meal tray, measuring tape, gloves, gauze, cotton balls, splints, crutches, doctor's kit (include stethoscope, bandages, band-aids, medicine bottles, tongue depressors, plastic test tubes, roll of masking tape to be cut and used as band-aids), dolls, medical bracelets, slings, stethoscope (can be made with a spool wrapped in foil tied onto string), Red Cross head bands, thermometer, slings, white sheets, shower caps (for sugical hats), blankets, booklet (blank--for children to draw or write about experiences in centre), clipboards, file folders, magazines, paper and writing tools (for prescriptions, etc.), telephone and telephone directory, typewriter

Beyond the Box: chairs (small), stretcher, table (low), wheel chair

Hat Box: fire fighter, police officer, army helmet, construction/hard hats, baseball hat, chief, puzzles and books of various hats 

Hawaiian Isle: hawaiian dresses (moomoos), leis (make them from wads of colored tissue paper on a string), grass skirts (made out of green crepe paper a one time use prop!), tapes/CDs of Hawaiian music, silk/plastic flowers, ukulele, plam trees/coconuts.

Extended Ideas:
To make a moomoo: With brightly flower print material cut out two pieces (30"x20") for each moomoo. Sew up the (30") side seams to within 12 inches from the top. Separate the material and fold over the salvage edges of the
(12 inches) side seams and sew each piece to finish the edges of the last 12 inches. Hem the top and bottom edges. (it should now resemble a large tube) Lay the dress down with side seams to outside and tie the ends to form knots
at each shoulder leaving room for little arms to go through.
